Kathleen started playing tennis at age 8 in a summer recreation program. During her senior year at Centennial High School, she tried organizing a girls tennis team, but could not find any schools to compete against. That summer, after graduation, Title IX passed and girls tennis became a reality in high school. While she enjoyed playing tennis in the summer, she also enjoyed many other activities including fastpitch softball, bicycling, golf, roller blading, ice skating, downhill skiing and broomball. Her two sons were also active in sports and both played tennis at St. Francis High School.

In 2012, Kathleen was bugging one of her sons to play tennis with her. He replied, "Mom, you're gonna have to find your own friends." So she searched online and found Public Indoor Tennis. She signed up for a class and met some new friends including Dawn Jachymowski, Barb Bliss and Linda Menge. When the class ended, the women's in-house league formed, which is still going strong today.

After retiring in 2020, Kathleen joined the front desk staff at Public Indoor Tennis. She is very grateful for all the many friendships, opportunities (including travel) and health benefits that tennis has provided.
